Education and experience
The employer is looking for either a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field with no prior work experience, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline along with 2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related professional area.
Core accounting duties
- Oversee assigned accounting tasks and special projects from start to finish.
- Track, carry out, and follow up on accounting SOP audits across the property.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state rules related to fraud and collection practices.
- Prepare accurate reports, presentations, and other deliverables within required timelines.
- Review data, interpret findings, and choose practical solutions to accounting problems.
- Compile, code, classify, calculate, audit, and verify financial information.
- Reconcile credit card ledgers.
- Validate group contracts and, when needed, perform credit reference checks for direct-billed groups.
Financial control and reporting
- Work toward and exceed performance, budget, and team targets.
- Set priorities and organize work plans to meet business goals.
- Submit reports promptly and meet all delivery deadlines.
- Ensure profit and loss records are prepared accurately.
- Monitor applicable taxes so they remain current, collected, or accrued as required.
- Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment to protect assets.
- Complete all period-end responsibilities each cycle.
- Guide other departments on accounting and budgeting procedures, including efficient use of financial resources.
Accounting knowledge and systems use
- Apply job-specific knowledge of systems, products, processes, and accounting issues.
- Handle return-check procedures, gross revenue reporting, write-off processes, and consolidated deposit procedures.
- Stay current with technical updates and apply new learning on the job.
- Use computers and related software to build spreadsheets, enter data, configure functions, and process financial information.
- Assess whether activities comply with laws, regulations, and standards using sound judgment.
Team leadership
- Lead by example with strong communication, integrity, and sound financial judgment.
- Create a productive work setting and keep the team motivated.
- Set deadlines and assign tasks effectively.
