Stellenbeschreibung

Role overview

WorkSafeBC is seeking a Case Manager who can make a real difference by supporting injured workers through recovery and a safe, sustainable return to work. In this role, you will oversee assigned claims, assess individual needs, identify obstacles, and step in with the right interventions to keep recovery and work-readiness moving forward. You will work closely with workers, employers, health care providers, and internal teams to build practical return-to-work solutions.

You will be responsible for directing each case from start to finish, handling complex and often sensitive situations with professionalism and clarity. The role calls for respectful, direct communication, sound judgment, and the ability to align different viewpoints around achievable outcomes. Plans will need to be based on functional abilities, job demands, evidence, and relevant legislation, policies, and standards, while also drawing on clinical expertise when needed.

This position is suited to someone who is confident making decisions, able to establish trust, and comfortable leading discussions with multiple stakeholders to support outcomes that are both safe and sustainable.

Work location and schedule

This position follows a hybrid work model, combining remote work with office-based work depending on operational needs. Opportunities are available in Kamloops, Kelowna, Port Moody, and Richmond, and applicants should indicate their preferred location. The training class for these openings is scheduled to begin on September 14, 2026.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned caseload independently and apply disability management practices to influence employers, clinicians, internal partners, and workers toward timely return-to-work results.
  • Build detailed case management plans with clear actions, goals, and timelines, and lead regular team discussions to track progress.
  • Work with internal and external partners, including health care providers, employers, and vocational rehabilitation consultants, to implement evidence-based return-to-work strategies aligned with worker needs.
  • Track goals, deadlines, responsibilities, and service provider activities, then assess how well the plan is working through ongoing communication.
  • Help improve case management processes and support quality initiatives by delivering client-focused service and contributing to program and procedure enhancements.

What you need to do well

  • Show empathy and care while creating strong working relationships and collaborative recovery and return-to-work plans.
  • Guide and influence others toward outcomes that reflect each worker’s individual situation.
  • Apply legislation and policy when deciding on entitlements and rehabilitation measures.
  • Prioritize a busy workload while managing shifting deadlines and competing demands.
  • Collect, interpret, and assess relevant information with care and accuracy.
  • Handle a broad caseload with input from teammates across medical, psychological, physical, and financial matters.
  • Listen actively and explain complex information clearly in both spoken and written communication.

Background and experience

You should have an undergraduate degree and at least three years of experience making complex decisions independently and communicating those decisions with clarity, tact, and compassion. That experience must include situations requiring discretion, caution, and sound judgment, along with the ability to analyze facts, integrate input from different perspectives, weigh evidence, and apply acts, policies, procedures, and other resources to reach appropriate conclusions.

Working knowledge of disability management and return-to-work principles is needed. A graduate degree, certificate, or diploma in Disability Management is considered an advantage. A valid British Columbia driver’s licence is required.

Eligibility and employment requirements

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Before any offer can be finalized, you must meet the legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act to work with children and/or vulnerable adults, and you must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
