Role overview

This position is based in Hobart, Tasmania, and involves carrying out day-to-day cleaning work in commercial and construction settings. The job includes routine cleaning tasks as well as more detailed work such as post-construction clean-ups, deep cleaning, and washing internal and external windows.

The Cleaner will also be responsible for safe use of chemicals and cleaning equipment, removing waste, replenishing supplies, and making sure each worksite meets quality and safety expectations. Work may take place in both occupied and unoccupied premises, and the role requires following schedules and instructions carefully.

Key duties

• Carry out everyday cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitising surfaces.
• Clean internal and external windows as part of regular assignments.
• Complete post-construction cleaning and detailed deep-cleaning tasks when required.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to procedure.
• Remove rubbish and replenish consumables and supplies as needed.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness, presentation, and site safety.
• Follow job instructions and work schedules to finish tasks on time.
• Report maintenance concerns or safety risks to the relevant supervisor.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to complete projects efficiently.

This role has been approved for a Work and Holiday visa extension.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in commercial, construction, or residential cleaning, with familiarity with professional cleaning standards.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and correct use of cleaning equipment, including personal protective equipment and safety procedures.
• Good attention to detail, time management, and dependability to complete work efficiently and to a high standard.
• Physical ability to perform manual duties such as standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and working at heights where needed.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Willingness to work varying shifts or longer hours depending on project needs.
• Valid working rights in Australia; a current driver’s licence and reliable transport are considered an advantage.
• Relevant cleaning, safety, or construction-site credentials such as a White Card or WWVP Card are beneficial.
