Role Overview
The Clinical Data Specialist is an important part of clinical trial operations across the Iterative Health research network. This position focuses on reviewing electronic health records to find possible study candidates, supporting recruitment efforts, keeping research databases up to date, and making sure patient pre-screening records are handled accurately and consistently.
The right candidate is meticulous, comfortable in a high-paced setting, and motivated by using data and operational discipline to advance clinical research.
Clinical Trial Patient Identification and Screening
- Examine electronic health records to spot patients who may be eligible for active clinical studies.
- Read and apply study protocols and eligibility rules to identify suitable patient groups for recruitment.
- Create and maintain databases of prospective participants across multiple research programs.
- Record pre-screening activity and outcomes in line with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Work with research sites and clinical staff to help drive participant recruitment.
Research Operations Support
- Assist network research sites with data collection, documentation, and day-to-day operational coordination.
- Help schedule patient visits and organize research-related appointments.
- Enter data accurately and promptly into clinical research systems and internal platforms.
- Maintain study records and tracking tools that support operational efficiency and reporting.
- Join project meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements.
Compliance and Quality
- Manage protected health information and research data securely, confidentially, and in compliance with requirements.
- Follow company policies, study protocols, Good Clinical Practice standards, and relevant regulations.
- Ensure all documentation and data work is complete, accurate, and high quality.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent mix of education and professional experience.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and browser-based applications.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly, including EHR, CTMS, and CRM platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and solid organizational ability.
- Good time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and with others in a changing, fast-moving environment.
- Professional judgment, discretion, and integrity when handling sensitive information.
Preferred Background
- Experience in clinical research, healthcare operations, patient recruitment, or data management.
- Exposure to clinical protocols and eligibility review processes.
- Experience reading and interpreting EHR data.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and clinical research regulations.
- Prior work in a healthcare technology, biotech, or startup setting.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, CTMS tools, or similar research systems.
