Role overview
Amentum is seeking a Construction Surveillance Technician for an opportunity in Germany. This position focuses on protecting construction activities through inspection, surveillance, access control, and documentation to help ensure that work, materials, and site activity remain secure and compliant.
What you will do
- Check construction materials, parcels, bags, boxes, crates, and vehicles using x-ray equipment and other technical screening tools.
- Carry out visual checks on work completed by uncleared personnel to spot irregularities and possible concealed technical devices.
- Examine drawings and specifications to confirm that construction is being completed as approved.
- Assess risks to decide how much surveillance and what type of inspection is needed at each stage of the construction cycle.
- Monitor for changes in construction that could hide an improper or unauthorized objective.
- Evaluate areas where hostile intelligence services could place clandestine technical surveillance devices.
- Support security escort and access control duties when assigned.
- Prepare written reports documenting attempts to gain unauthorized access and report suspicious activity.
- Identify unauthorized materials, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and signs of covert technical penetration.
- Apply construction security surveillance, vehicle search, and personnel search procedures.
- Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and construction terminology accurately.
- Assess security practices across different levels of protection and identify relevant technical security devices and monitoring systems.
- Work outdoors in difficult weather, remain on your feet for long periods, and perform independently in a detail-focused setting.
- Stay self-driven, continue learning industry practices, and support by training and mentoring entry-level staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is mandatory.
- A government-approved CST certification is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in one or more relevant areas: construction security surveillance, technical surveillance countermeasures, industrial or government security with a counterintelligence element, construction quality assurance, or hands-on supervisory construction work.
- Solid understanding of technical surveillance countermeasures, PHOTOINT, IMINT, construction principles, and devices used for clandestine surveillance.
- Ability to recognize hostile technical methods, assess security requirements, and understand industrial or government security environments.
- Familiarity with static security techniques, construction security practices, and methods used to introduce technical penetrations or unauthorized items.
- Working knowledge of construction safety.
- Willingness to train and mentor junior personnel.
- Preferred background includes a bachelor’s degree, 5 years of construction experience, 5 years in related security roles, prior CST experience on overseas or domestic projects, counterintelligence or intelligence analysis experience, Naval Construction Battalion training, or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers construction training.
