What you'll do
- Work through large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and the key factors influencing business outcomes.
- Convert raw data into insights that can support both day-to-day operations and broader strategic decisions.
- Carry out ad hoc analysis to answer business questions and investigate unusual data issues.
- Build and update dashboards and reports in tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Communicate insights in a way that works for both technical audiences and non-technical stakeholders.
- Make sure reporting outputs are reliable, consistent, and delivered within required timelines.
- Extract, transform, and load data using SQL and/or Python.
- Protect data quality, accuracy, and consistency across different data sources.
- Find and fix data mismatches or other data-related problems.
- Partner with business teams to understand reporting needs and analytical objectives.
- Turn business requirements into practical analytical solutions.
- Share findings and recommendations clearly and effectively.
- Look for ways to simplify reporting, reduce manual work, and improve efficiency.
- Support automation efforts that increase scalability and speed.
- Help raise standards in reporting and data management through continuous improvement.
Skills and experience
This role calls for strong SQL capability, solid analytical thinking, and confidence working with reporting and visualisation tools. Experience with Python or R is beneficial, and advanced Excel skills are also important. Previous exposure to financial services is required.
It is also helpful to have experience handling large datasets, working with data warehousing concepts, and using ETL processes. A good understanding of business metrics and KPIs will be an advantage.
Work style and attributes
