Company overview
Caramel is a luxury label founded in 1999 by Eva Karayiannis. The brand was created to bring a new point of view to childrenswear and has since expanded into luxury womenswear and homewares. It is recognised for refined simplicity, high-quality materials, careful craftsmanship, and a distinctive use of colour and print. Its collections are built around timeless pieces with a contemporary feel.
Role summary
This is a full-time, on-site Designer position based in Ladbroke Grove, Greater London. The role focuses on developing imaginative designs that fit Caramel’s brand identity across its product ranges. You will take ideas from research and trend exploration through to sketches, pattern development, material selection, and final collection delivery, while working closely with internal and external partners.
What you will do
- Create seasonal design directions that reflect the brand vision, using research, mood boards, and clear concept presentations.
- Design garments across several product types, including jersey, woven, and knitwear, from initial concept to final approval.
- Prepare detailed sketches, CAD artwork, technical drawings, and comprehensive technical packs.
- Partner with the creative designer, suppliers, and pattern cutters to make sure the intended design is translated accurately.
- Take part in fittings and provide specific feedback on fit, proportions, and finishing details.
- Build and update technical packs, including specifications, bill of materials, and construction notes.
- Help maintain consistency in fit, quality, and construction throughout the collection.
- Work with merchandising, buying, and production teams to ensure the range supports commercial goals.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to support sampling and production processes.
- Work with marketing and visual teams to communicate seasonal concepts effectively.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will bring strong fashion design capability, including pattern knowledge, textile selection, and garment construction understanding. You should be comfortable using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, have a strong eye for trend direction and concept building, and be able to manage several projects at once in a busy environment. Clear communication and teamwork are essential, and experience in luxury fashion would be an advantage.
Qualifications
- Ability to design apparel and create patterns with a strong understanding of fabrics and construction.
- Confident use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong ability to research trends, develop concepts, and create designs suited to a modern luxury market.
- Capability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
- Prior experience in luxury fashion is preferred.
