About the role
Bechtel is hiring a Document Controller to support project document and records management in Perth, Western Australia. The position is based onsite on a full-time office/project arrangement and supports large, complex programs across infrastructure, aviation, defence, and energy-related work.
In this role, you will manage project information using an enterprise content management system, help maintain accurate records, and support closeout and quality assurance activities. The role calls for strong attention to detail, sound communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Project context
Bechtel has delivered major projects across the world for well over a century, working in infrastructure, nuclear, security and environmental, energy, mining and metals, and manufacturing and technology markets. The company supports clients from early planning through start-up and operations, with a focus on delivering long-term positive outcomes.
In Western Australia, the team is supporting capital works programmes and looking for someone interested in a long-term role in and around Perth. The work is carried out within integrated teams alongside customers to help strengthen Bechtel’s future capability.
What you will do
- Support document and records management for the assigned program and help improve the document management or records archiving system and related work processes.
- Coordinate with project teams, functional groups, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure procedures and workflows provide the required information.
- Review, log, distribute, maintain, retrieve, and file project and functional records as well as revision-controlled documents such as drawings, specifications, supplier submittals, correspondence, material requisitions, construction work packages, and change documents.
- Act as a subject matter resource for information management tools such as Aconex and Outlook.
- Work regularly with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience and qualifications
- You should bring at least 6 years of relevant work experience.
- A diploma-level qualification, associate degree, or equivalent international credential is preferred, or technical training in a related area.
- You need strong written and verbal communication skills, including correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- A minimum of 5 years’ document control experience is required, preferably gained recently and with Aconex.
- You should have intermediate to advanced ability with web-based file transfer and collaboration tools such as SharePoint Online or OneDrive.
- You also need basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power BI; skills testing may be used to verify capability.
