Role overview
This office-based Electrical Estimator position is with a long-established private electrical contractor in Leicester, serving projects across the Midlands and further afield. The business is known for a professional, supportive culture focused on quality, safety, and ongoing development. It offers the chance to work close to home while joining a company that invests in its people and encourages long-term progression.
What you will do
You will prepare accurate and competitive estimates for a range of electrical projects. The role involves handling tender submissions, assessing technical drawings, calculating costs, and working closely with clients, suppliers, and internal colleagues. Your input will help the business win new work and ensure smooth handover of successful projects. You will also contribute to commercial and industrial schemes in and around Leicester.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will bring estimating experience from an electrical contracting or construction environment, along with a solid understanding of electrical systems, installations, and project delivery. You should be able to read drawings, specifications, and technical documents with confidence, and have strong commercial judgement, numerical ability, and analytical skills. Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office is important, as are clear communication, strong organisation, and the ability to negotiate and manage several tenders at once. An electrical qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or a degree is preferred, and knowledge of electrical regulations and good industry practice would be an advantage.
Compensation and benefits
The salary for this role is £50,000 to £65,000, depending on experience. In addition, the package includes a car allowance after probation, a company pension, life assurance, and access to ongoing training and professional development. The role also offers strong long-term career prospects and the opportunity to work on varied, high-quality commercial and industrial projects.
