Role overview
Anthrogen is a YC S24-backed biotech startup with $11M in seed funding, focused on creating large-scale protein foundation models to transform how enzymes are designed. The company is hiring a Founding Operations Manager to act as the central operator as the team grows from 9 people to more than 30.
This position works closely with the founder and carries ownership across recruiting, finance, partner coordination, and broader operational systems. It is intended for someone who wants high responsibility in a fast-moving environment and sees themselves eventually building a company of their own.
Compensation
The package includes a salary of up to $200k plus equity. The equity grant is described as founding-level, in the range of 0.5% to 1.5%. A rent stipend is also mentioned to help the hire live near the San Francisco headquarters.

What you will handle
- Create and run the full hiring process needed to expand the company from 9 employees to more than 30 technical team members.
- Set up and manage the company’s finance, legal, and vendor workflows from the ground up so the business can scale efficiently.
- Work on partner coordination and product launch activities while serving as the founder’s main operational counterpart.
Candidate profile
