Role overview
McCain Foods (Canada) is hiring General Labourers for its Prepared Foods facility in Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick. This is a regular full-time position in a manufacturing environment that is physically demanding and requires a rotating schedule of 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. The pattern runs two weeks on days followed by two weeks on nights. Selected candidates will complete a 90-day training period.
What you will do
- Carry out work in line with all safety rules, follow job hazard analyses, and take part in behavioral safety observation activities through the STEP program.
- Read and apply mixing instructions by weighing, blending, and combining ingredients to the required recipe.
- Clean equipment and sanitize work areas while keeping the workspace orderly and completing daily housekeeping reports.
- Identify product quality concerns and report them promptly.
- Use the machinery and equipment assigned to the role.
- Record ingredient codes, ingredient temperatures, and finished-product tracking information accurately.
- Manage ingredient timing to support shift completion and changeovers.
- Follow changeover rules and requirements.
- Perform sanitation-related tasks as needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment, make adjustments, and carry out maintenance within the role’s scope.
- Work in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs).
- Help achieve SQCDPE goals by understanding KPI targets and working toward them.
- Share information with team members while acting as a key area resource or area lead when required.
What you need
- Completion of Grade 12 or a GED is required.
- Availability to work rotating shifts is essential.
- Computer literacy is considered an advantage.
- Ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Capacity to walk, stand, and bend regularly, along with the ability to continuously lift about 35–40 lbs.
- Willingness to learn and move between different jobs within the plant.
- Calm, responsible response to unexpected situations.
- Strong basic math skills and the ability to complete production forms clearly and accurately.
- Comfort with day-to-day change in operations and procedures.
Compensation and benefits
The starting hourly pay is CAD 19.69, with bonus eligibility and hourly pay differentials for qualifying shifts. Final compensation depends on experience, skills, education, training, and broader business needs.
