Role overview
The position is focused on generating insurance business through an assigned relationship or channel partner network in a defined area or zone. The incumbent will work to influence the relationship partner so that they, in turn, recommend investment in Birla Sun Life Insurance to their customers. The role also involves delivering complete pre-sales and post-sales support and service to both the partner relationship and clients, while coordinating with the dedicated team attached to the relationship. A key expectation is not just to meet targets, but to maintain steady quarter-on-quarter business growth.

Since the company primarily sells unit-linked policies, market volatility is a major factor. The role also depends significantly on the HDFC branch banking model in an open architecture setup, where branch priorities may differ, making alignment critical. Key responsibilities
- Deliver premium and revenue targets to support overall company growth.
- Maintain regular engagement with channel partners, including multiple bank branch heads.
- Identify and map key decision-makers, and ensure the information is shared with regional and zonal leadership.
- Actively promote and drive organizational reward and recognition initiatives.
- Develop creative branch-level activities to improve customer reach and penetration.
- Keep sales and service workflows running smoothly to maximize business potential.
- Communicate changes in processes, rules, and regulations through appropriate training support.
- Ensure sales calls, policy issuance, and complaint resolution happen without operational delays.
- Manage relationships at all levels within the open-architecture bank setup to serve customer needs effectively.
- Stay well-versed in insurance products as well as bank products.
- Strengthen the relationship network to achieve the desired business outcomes.
- Identify new business opportunities within assigned relationships and geography to improve productivity and top-line results.
- Explore innovative methods with partners to improve database penetration.
- Support the FLS review mechanism with a focus on 40% activation, 2 cases per active, and an average ticket size of 50K ATS.
- Ensure the desired product mix is maintained: Traditional 50%, ULIP 40%, and Term 10%.
- Drive 15% more business than TATA, as specified in the mandate.
- Provide inputs for new products and sales pitches based on a strong understanding of channel needs.
- Identify training requirements for internal teams and channel-partner teams.
- Review business on a regular basis and escalate relevant information to managers.
- Connect with customers through welcome calls.
- Meet persistency targets as per company norms so renewals are completed on time.
- Follow up with customers and resolve their queries to support timely renewal.
