Role Overview
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day housekeeping operation, ensuring guest rooms and public areas meet brand standards for cleanliness, presentation, safety, and service quality. This position also supports team performance, guest satisfaction, inventory control, and coordination with other hotel departments.
Key Duties
- Oversee and organize the daily work of housekeeping attendants, including allocation of schedules and tasks.
- Distribute room keys, cleaning materials, and equipment while maintaining proper control procedures.
- Participate in daily briefings and pass on priorities, VIP arrivals, special requests, and operational updates to the team.
- Track room status for VIP rooms, DND, Sleep-Out, Double-Locked, and vacant rooms, and ensure the correct follow-up action is taken.
- Check room check-outs before marking rooms as vacant in the system.
- Respond quickly to guest requests and support service recovery when issues arise.
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, public spaces, service pantries, and stairwells to confirm compliance with cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards.
- Make sure guest amenities, linen, and other supplies are replenished according to hotel requirements.
- Spot maintenance issues, safety risks, and repair needs, and report them immediately for follow-up.
- Maintain the cleanliness and condition of housekeeping equipment, trolleys, machines, and storage areas.
- Carry out routine quality checks using departmental checklists and take corrective action where needed.
- Support stock and inventory control, including the proper handling and storage of supplies, chemicals, linen, and equipment.
- Follow safe chemical handling practices and ensure compliance with cleaning procedures and health and safety rules.
- Prepare operational records and reports such as Lost & Found logs, maintenance reports, and room inspection documentation.
- Train, coach, and guide housekeeping attendants on cleaning methods, service expectations, safety practices, and department policies.
- Review team performance, share constructive feedback, and encourage ongoing improvement.
- Work closely with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, Food & Beverage, and other departments to support smooth operations.
- Handle housekeeping-related guest concerns promptly and professionally to protect guest satisfaction.
- Assist the Housekeeping Manager and Assistant Housekeeping Manager with additional operational responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in the same role within a 4-star or 5-star hotel.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift for long periods.
- Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
