Role overview
This opportunity is for an HR Assistant based at the corporate office in Louisville, KY. The role supports a range of human resources activities for a growing employee-owned business and offers room to expand into a broader HR position as the organization continues to scale.
HRIS and benefits administration
- Enter and maintain employee records in the HRIS and benefits systems.
- Process onboarding and separation actions in the Human Resource Information System.
- Keep employee changes up to date, including home address and contact details, direct deposit information, tax details, and pay-related deductions or earnings.
- Make required updates in benefit platforms, including 401(k) and insurance systems.
- Check reports and invoices for accuracy and compliance.
General HR support
- Route questions, concerns, and issues to the right person when escalation is needed.
- Help prepare payroll-related and regulatory reports, and compile materials for audits.
- Respond to employment verification requests.
- Assist employees with benefits questions and coordinate with outside vendors when needed.
- Support process improvement projects and help maintain HR best practices.
- Maintain personnel files and other required documentation.
- Carry out clerical support tasks for different departments, such as copying, faxing, filing, and preparing business correspondence and reports.
Recruiting and talent acquisition support
- Use the applicant tracking system to screen resumes and applications and communicate with candidates.
- Post and maintain open requisitions.
- Coordinate and conduct phone interviews for a variety of roles.
- Assist with candidate background checks.
Qualifications
This is a non-exempt hourly position. The ideal candidate should bring strong written and spoken communication skills, solid attention to detail, good organization, and strong problem-solving ability. Comfort with technology, including HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office, is important. The role also requires the ability to manage confidential information, work well in a team, deliver strong customer service, and juggle changing priorities.
Education and experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An advanced degree or HR certification is preferred. The employer is seeking someone with 2 to 3 years of experience in human resources. Experience administering HRIS systems and handling full-cycle recruiting is preferred.
