Role Overview

The Human Resources Generalist plays a hands-on role in the daily delivery of HR services and programs that support a collaborative, inclusive, and purpose-led workplace. In this position, you will work closely with managers and team members across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, performance support, training, compliance, and HR policy administration. The role focuses on maintaining compliance with employment regulations and internal policies while supporting an environment where staff can effectively serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and workplace practices.
  • Handle employee inquiries promptly, professionally, and with discretion.
  • Manage recruiting activities for assigned openings from start to finish.
  • Create and publish job ads through applicant tracking and recruiting tools.
  • Review applications and arrange interview scheduling.
  • Support pre-employment steps such as background screening, reference checks, drug testing when needed, and employment verification.
  • Lead new-hire orientation and onboarding efforts to help create a strong employee experience.
  • Oversee leave administration for FMLA, ADA accommodations, military leave, workers’ compensation, and other internal leave programs.
  • Coordinate return-to-work activities and ensure all related records are complete.
  • Compile HR reports and maintain compliance-related documentation.
  • Support unemployment claims and employment verification requests.
  • Keep employee files and HRIS data accurate and up to date.
  • Track completion of required training programs.
  • Help ensure adherence to applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with accreditation, licensing, and audit needs relevant to IDD service providers.
  • Maintain I-9 forms and employment eligibility records.
