Role Summary
The company is seeking a meticulous and professional Health, Safety and Environment Officer in Abu Dhabi. The selected candidate must hold ADOSH/OSHAD certification and be committed to building and maintaining a safe, healthy, and legally compliant workplace. The role involves designing, executing, and tracking HSE initiatives in line with UAE regulations and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out thorough site inspections and risk reviews to spot hazards and compliance gaps.
- Build, update, and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and programs aligned with ADOSH/OSHAD requirements and UAE labour legislation.
- Review incidents, accidents, and near misses, record the details, and suggest corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate HSE files, logs, and reports for internal review and regulatory obligations.
- Plan and deliver safety briefings and awareness sessions for employees across all levels.
- Perform audits and inspections to confirm compliance with HSE standards and accepted best practices.
- Work with leadership and department heads to adapt safety measures and resolve workplace concerns.
- Track HSE metrics and performance indicators to support ongoing improvement.
- Ensure PPE and other safety equipment are used, stored, and maintained correctly.
- Coordinate with regulators and external HSE specialists to support compliance efforts.
- Encourage a strong safety mindset through employee involvement and behavioural safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Current ADOSH/OSHAD certification is mandatory.
- Between 2 and 5 years of HSE experience in a corporate or industrial environment.
- Solid understanding of UAE labour law, ADOSH rules, and HSE compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with risk analysis, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and close attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare HSE documentation, maintain records, and generate reports effectively.
- Confident communication and training skills for audiences at different organizational levels.
- Experience with workplace inspections, safety audits, and compliance monitoring.
- Comfort using HSE management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Preferred extras include NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISO 45001 credentials.
- Background in construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, or similar industrial sectors is an advantage.
- Knowledge of international HSE practices and standards is desirable.
- Experience creating and delivering tailored safety training is preferred.
- Exposure to behavioural safety and safety culture programs is beneficial.
