Role Overview

This is a practical, hands-on HR leadership position responsible for running the day-to-day people operations on a major infrastructure programme. It is a frontline role, not a strategy-only position, and requires someone who enjoys being embedded in the project environment and close to operational delivery.

You will lead a team of 4 direct reports and partner with project leaders, site managers, and a varied international workforce to make sure HR support is delivered smoothly and effectively.

The position begins in Auckland CBD and will later move to a site north of Auckland as the project advances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of daily HR operations across a large project workforce.
  • Deliver practical, immediate HR guidance to leaders and site-based teams.
  • Handle employee relations and industrial relations matters directly and effectively.
  • Manage recruitment at scale, onboarding processes, and workforce mobilisation.
  • Maintain strong compliance with HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to workforce planning and resourcing as business needs change.
  • Support employee engagement, performance management, and productivity initiatives.
  • Guide, coach, and develop a small HR team to achieve strong operational results.

  • Exposure to construction, infrastructure, engineering, or similar delivery environments.
