About the company

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a worldwide maker of golf cars, utility and personal transportation vehicles, professional turf-care equipment, and ground support equipment. Its products are sold across multiple brands and are used in settings such as golf courses, factories, airports, planned communities, theme parks, and hunting preserves.

Role overview

As an Industrial Designer, you will help shape early product ideas into clear, compelling concepts that can be reviewed by leadership and cross-functional teams. The role focuses on fast concept development, visual storytelling, and practical design thinking that balances customer needs, business goals, and feasibility.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and refine sketches, renderings, 3D CAD models, and other visual materials that translate product strategy into tangible concepts.
  • Develop quick concept iterations that support movement from early ideas to executive-level presentations and strategic decisions.
  • Prepare concept decks and supporting narratives that explain the design direction and the value of each concept from customer and business viewpoints.
  • Work with product managers to turn customer feedback and market opportunities into actionable design direction.
  • Take part in ideation and brainstorming sessions, bringing in customer input, brand consistency, functional goals, and early manufacturability considerations.
  • Coordinate with design engineers and program managers to assess integration and manufacturability early in the process.
  • Partner with marketing and brand teams to ensure concept work reflects TSV brand identity.
  • Assist with rapid prototyping in physical, digital, or VR formats to evaluate desirability and viability at an early stage.
  • Present design intent through visuals, storytelling, and prototype walkthroughs to stakeholders, helping guide early product direction.
  • Help establish design standards, templates, and best practices while keeping up with market trends, new materials, and changing UI/UX expectations.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, transportation design, or a related discipline is required; an associate degree may also be accepted if paired with the right experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience is required, or 5+ years if the candidate holds an associate degree.
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools is required, with NX preferred and SolidWorks or Rhino also acceptable.
  • Strong ability in rendering and visualization tools such as KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, and Photoshop is required.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and digital or VR modeling is considered an advantage.
  • A portfolio showing concept ideation, 3D modeling, aesthetics, and user-centered thinking is required.
  • Ability to develop early-stage concept options quickly and clearly is required.
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to collaborate with varied stakeholders and work through fast design iterations.
  • Understanding of ergonomics, human factors, and real-world use environments is required.
  • Experience in automotive, powersports, or vehicle-related design is preferred but not mandatory.
