Overview
The AFC Inspector is tasked with checking, validating, and tracking the performance, condition, and upkeep of Automatic Fare Collection systems across the network. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, operational standards, and revenue protection needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect AFC equipment such as validators, gates, ticket vending machines, and backend interfaces to confirm they are working properly and available for service.
- Oversee contractor-led maintenance work and confirm it follows preventive and corrective maintenance requirements.
- Assess the reliability of fare collection systems and spot issues that may affect revenue integrity or the passenger experience.
- Log defects and non-conformities, then follow up to make sure the contractor completes corrective actions on time.
- Work with AFC, telecom, and IT teams to troubleshoot and close out system and integration issues.
Candidate Profile
The role calls for a professional with at least 5 years of experience in AFC systems, ticketing technologies, or transport ITS environments. A solid grasp of smart ticketing, fare systems, and related communications networks is important. Prior exposure to inspections, audits, or maintenance oversight is preferred. Experience with asset management and reporting tools such as Maximo is an advantage.
