You will be part of an experienced in-house legal function and report to the Manager, Corporate Advisory. The role supports stakeholders across Suncorp Group New Zealand, including the general insurance brand Vero. The work covers a range of advisory areas such as technology, regulatory matters, investigations, procurement, and marketing/sponsorship. Experience in advisory, regulatory, and litigation work will be valued, especially where it adds commercial impact and aligns with the organisation’s strategic direction.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws degree and a current practising certificate
• Admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in New Zealand
• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal environment
• Preferred background in regulatory advisory work, either in a corporate setting or litigation context
• Strong understanding of legal issues within financial services is an advantage
• Experience with technology-related contracts is desirable
• Commercial awareness and the confidence to work independently, including with senior leadership
• Ability to explain complex legal matters in a simple and practical way for business stakeholders

Employment terms
