Role overview

An established Irish public sector body is hiring a Mapping Executive (GIS & Property) to support its Strategic Property team in Athlone. The role sits within the Property Legal Conveyancing and Procurement Team and plays an important part in mapping, surveying, GIS management, and property-related documentation.

This position supports the organisation’s property portfolio activities, including regional building delivery, infrastructure development, land acquisition, site initiatives, stakeholder engagement, sustainability projects, asset management, and estate management. It also helps ensure that land boundaries, title information, and mapping records are accurate for asset management, marketing, and client interactions.

The job involves maintaining and improving the GIS platform, assisting with acquisitions and site due diligence, and working with internal teams, consultants, engineers, and third parties to resolve mapping and boundary issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct land surveys for organisational property using GPS surveying tools.
  • Prepare and oversee mapping and property paperwork used in legal conveyancing matters, including property instructions, title burden reviews, requisitions, and declarations of identity.
  • Create transaction maps, information maps, contract maps, rectification maps, and Land Registry-compliant maps.
  • Maintain, update, and administer the GIS database and related geospatial systems.
  • Manage geospatial datasets so that databases and web applications remain accurate and current.
  • Build dashboards, workflows, and automation to improve efficiency.
  • Provide training and support to Property and Regions teams on GIS tools and processes.
  • Assist with site due diligence and title investigation work.
  • Coordinate with consultants and engineers on site set-out work, disposal boundaries, rectifications, and boundary disputes.
  • Update and maintain CAD records.
  • Contribute as an active member of the Strategic Property Team.
  • Prepare and present property mapping proposals to relevant committees or the Board when required.
  • Use technology effectively to support efficient property operations.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the post.

Requirements
