Production Labourer - Food Processing

Role overview

Burnbrae Farms is hiring a food processing production labourer for its Brockville, Ontario site. This is an on-site position only, so the work must be done at the physical workplace with no remote option.

Language requirement

English is required for this role.

Education and experience

A secondary school graduation certificate is preferred, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. Previous experience is helpful but not mandatory, as experience is considered an asset.

Work environment

The position involves working around odours, heat, cold or refrigerated areas, and wet or damp conditions.

Core duties

• Apply safe food-handling and food safety practices throughout the workday.
• Move raw ingredients, completed products, and packaging supplies to the required areas.
• Weigh, measure, and add ingredients into hoppers on mixing and grinding equipment.
• Load flat cardboard into forming equipment so containers can be made.
• Take finished containers off conveyors.
• Hand-pack products into bags, boxes, or similar packaging.
• Operate by feeding and unloading processing machines as needed.
• Inspect products and packaging for obvious quality issues.
• Support process control staff and machine operators with day-to-day tasks.
• Keep machines clean and maintain a tidy immediate work area.

Required credential

A Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificate is required.

Additional information

Applicants should have their own transportation, as public transit is not available for this location.

Working conditions and physical demands

This role includes repetitive duties, fine manual work, long periods of standing, close attention to detail, bending, crouching, kneeling, a fast-moving environment, heavy lifting, physical labour, and working under pressure.

Weight handling

The job may require lifting loads of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
