About Nutrialgo
Nutrialgo is a fast-scaling health and wellness company focused on algae-based nutrition, with special expertise in spirulina and other high-quality superfoods. The business blends sustainability, scientific methods, and innovation to serve both business and consumer markets, with operations expanding from Tamil Nadu to wider markets.
Role Overview
This is a practical, on-the-ground production leadership position based in Kambanur, Karaikudi, Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu. The Production Supervisor will support the Plant Manager in managing the full production flow, from pond cultivation to final dispatch. The role requires active participation in daily work alongside staff and laborers, not just supervision from a distance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete production cycle, including spirulina harvesting through the automatic harvester, powder processing using spray drying, tablet processing, packaging, and dispatch.
- Track pond conditions and nutrient levels closely, adding required nutrients on time and taking corrective action whenever growth conditions drift from target.
- Handle routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of production machines and equipment.
- Maintain accurate production logs, batch records, and SOP documentation so the process remains traceable for internal checks and statutory audits.
- Manage stock movement for incoming and outgoing materials, and coordinate with QC and laboratory teams to ensure samples are delivered on schedule.
- Plan shift schedules, distribute work among staff and laborers, and support the Plant Manager in day-to-day team coordination.
- Take ownership of audits related to the food and spirulina sector while ensuring adherence to FSSAI, GMP, and HACCP requirements.
- Promote a safe working environment by enforcing PPE use, safety procedures, and proper workplace practices.
- Ensure biological waste and spent media are disposed of in line with environmental rules and internal standards.
- Train new employees and laborers on equipment use, safety practices, and production expectations.
- Work with sales and marketing teams by sharing required production details and sending product samples to prospective customers when needed.
- Participate directly in production tasks and support the team hands-on across the factory floor and pond operations.
Requirements
- Any graduate with a degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in spirulina, algal cultivation, or a comparable food processing environment.
- Practical exposure to spray dryers, tablet presses, and food safety systems such as FSSAI, GMP, and HACCP is a strong advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, process-monitoring, and documentation skills are needed.
- Willingness to relocate to Kambanur, Karaikudi is mandatory.
- Fluency in spoken Tamil is required for day-to-day communication with the workforce.
- Basic working knowledge of MS Excel and inventory management tools is necessary for record keeping, stock control, and dispatch coordination.
- The role requires physical fitness and readiness to work outdoors in pond conditions as well as on the factory floor.
- A valid two-wheeler driving licence and own vehicle are required.
- Exposure to QC/QA work, including in-process checks, non-conformance reporting, and familiarity with FSSAI/GMP/HACCP documentation, will be considered an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of laboratory testing related to spirulina production, such as nutrient analysis, microbial checks, and product quality parameters, will also be beneficial.
Additional Information
Employment type: Full-time, permanent. Reporting line: Plant Manager. Salary: as per market standards. Experience expected: 3 to 6 years.
