Role Summary
This position is for a Project/Site Engineer specializing in MEP works. The role involves supervising site activities, coordinating with project stakeholders, managing technical and quality requirements, and supporting testing, commissioning, and project handover on UAE/GCC construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily MEP site operations and keep work progressing as planned.
- Make sure all MEP installations follow approved drawings, project specifications, local authority rules, and contract obligations.
- Work closely with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and other engineering teams to keep execution on track.
- Check construction drawings for clashes, inconsistencies, and design-related issues.
- Carry out site inspections to confirm workmanship and compliance with the project standards.
- Plan and track schedules, manpower, and material requirements for the project.
- Arrange procurement and delivery of MEP materials, tools, and equipment.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to support timely completion.
- Attend progress meetings and share technical updates and site status.
- Support testing, commissioning, and final handover activities.
- Verify that MEP works meet quality expectations and approved shop drawings.
- Prepare snag lists and follow up on rectification work.
- Monitor adherence to quality plans and inspection procedures.
- Work with QA/QC teams for inspections and approvals.
- Follow company safety rules and site HSE requirements.
- Identify hazards on site and help implement corrective measures.
- Take part in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site audits.
- Promote safe working practices among site staff and subcontractors.
- Maintain site records, daily logs, progress updates, and inspection documents.
- Prepare and submit RFIs, material submittals, method statements, and other technical documentation.
- Track progress against the schedule and escalate delays or risks to management.
- Assist with variation orders, claims, and closeout paperwork.
- Coordinate with authorities and consultants for inspections and approvals.
- Supervise commissioning of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, and ELV systems.
- Confirm that all systems operate in line with design requirements and regulatory standards.
- Support final inspections and handover documentation.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferably holds a valid UAE driving licence.
- At least 4 to 8 years of experience in MEP construction work.
- Previous experience with GCC or UAE contracting companies is preferred.
- Background in residential, commercial, industrial, or high-rise building projects.
- Good awareness of UAE local authority processes, approvals, and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on ability to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, and ELV systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications accurately.
- Understanding of testing and commissioning methods.
- Knowledge of project planning and scheduling tools is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with UAE building codes and authority standards such as DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, Civil Defense, and municipality regulations.
- Strong leadership, supervision, communication, and coordination skills.
- Good at solving problems and making decisions under pressure.
- Organized, reporting-focused, and capable of managing multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
