What you will do

In this role, you will collect blood and non-blood specimens while ensuring each patient receives a positive and professional experience. You will move between multiple sites to cover both planned and unexpected absences, supporting the smooth running of daily operations.

Core duties

• Collect blood and other specimens carefully and accurately.
• Deliver a welcoming, reassuring and professional experience for patients.
• Prepare and secure specimens for transport according to required procedures.
• Keep records accurate and follow all relevant processes.
• Adjust quickly to different teams, workflows and collection locations to support continuity of service.

Ideal candidate

The employer is looking for someone with pathology collection experience and preferably a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, though neither is mandatory. Applications are also encouraged from people with a healthcare background such as aged care, disability support or nursing who want to move into pathology.

You should be comfortable working in new environments, able to adapt to different procedures, and maintain a dependable and professional standard across multiple locations.

Experience and qualifications

• Experience in pathology collection is preferred but not essential.
• Certificate III in Pathology Collection is preferred but not essential.
• A healthcare background or strong experience in customer-facing roles is beneficial.

Requirements

• Hold a current full driver’s licence and have access to your own reliable vehicle.
• Be willing and able to travel between multiple locations.
• Have a valid Working With Children Check, or be prepared to obtain one before starting.
• Be able to provide evidence of required immunisations, including Hepatitis B.

Training

This position includes a 6-week paid training program to build the core knowledge and practical skills needed for collections work. The first 2 weeks require full-time availability, followed by a minimum of 25 hours per week. Training is completed through the internal onboarding program and may be shortened for candidates with relevant prior experience.
