About the Employer

The hiring organization is part of a large Indian infrastructure and utilities conglomerate with a nationwide presence across logistics and energy. Its airport business is focused on building modern aviation hubs that improve connectivity, use advanced technology, and deliver reliable service. The long-term aim is to develop globally benchmarked airport infrastructure that supports sustainable growth and benefits surrounding communities.

Role Overview

The Screener role is centered on the safe and efficient examination of checked baggage. The position exists to help prevent prohibited articles, dangerous goods, weapons, ammunition, and other security risks from entering the airport screening chain. The person in this role will operate screening systems, carry out inspections where needed, maintain records, coordinate with security partners, and help ensure that baggage clearance happens without unnecessary delays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all required regulatory training and successfully clear the mandated assessments within the permitted attempts.
  • Use X-BIS equipment to review baggage images and identify dangerous goods, prohibited items, weapons, ammunition, or other security concerns in line with AVSEC circulars, orders, guidelines, and SOPs.
  • Carry out manual inspections and ETD checks for baggage that is selected during X-ray screening.
  • Maintain strong TIP (Threat Image Projection) performance, reflecting accurate image interpretation.
  • Follow BCAS and DGCA instructions carefully to remain compliant throughout baggage screening and inspection activities.
  • Document screening activity and findings accurately to support audit and inspection requirements.
  • Perform routine pre-operational checks on X-BIS, ETD, CT-EDS, and other security equipment to confirm operational readiness.
  • Escalate equipment faults or downtime promptly and support maintenance of operational logs and registers.
  • Coordinate with CISF and airline teams during physical checks or when suspicious items need to be resolved.
  • Share timely updates with supervisors when operational issues or interventions are required.
  • Complete screening and inspection work within tight time limits to avoid disruption to airport operations.
  • Balance speed with thoroughness so that security standards are preserved while baggage flow remains efficient.
  • Maintain professional conduct, discipline, and a positive team environment at all times.
  • Adhere to company policies and workplace standards in behavior, appearance, and overall decorum.

Stakeholders

The role interacts internally with CSO, Lead AVSEC Audit & Compliance, Pass Section, Lead - ILHBS / Duty Manager - ILHBS / Sr Screener, Terminal Operations, IT, HR, Compliance and Regulatory Teams, and other airport departments such as Operations and Customer Service. External interaction may include TSA, aircraft operators, airport authorities, passengers, ASG, BCAS, local police, service providers, law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have completed high school or an equivalent qualification, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent is also mentioned. TSA certification is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have cleared the BCAS AVSEC basic course, standalone or inline screener certification from BCAS, and DGR CAT 12 certification from a DGCA-approved training center. Candidates with NCC “C” or “B” certificates are preferred. Freshers may apply, and candidates with 1 to 2 years of experience in security screening or a related field, ideally in an airport environment, will also be considered. Experience handling screening equipment and understanding security procedures is beneficial.

Physical Standards

Candidates must meet the following physical criteria: eyesight should be at least 20/60 in both eyes without glasses or lenses, or at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other while using glasses or contact lenses. Adequate color perception is required. Hearing loss in each ear should be below 30 dB when tested by audiograph for frequencies under 2000 Hz. The role also requires clear spoken communication without a noticeable speech impediment. Security personnel should be free from major speed-related communication limitations. A good sense of smell is necessary. Candidates are also expected to maintain a high standard of civility, appearance, sobriety, and courteous behavior toward the public.

Workplace Expectations

The role requires vigilance, attention to detail, quick decision-making, and the ability to work under operational pressure while maintaining a strong security mindset and respectful public-facing conduct.
