Role overview

Steampunk is seeking a Scrum Master to lead an Agile software development team in McLean, VA. The role centers on keeping delivery on track, enabling the team to work effectively, and supporting high-priority client work across technical IT development initiatives.

What you will do

• Guide an Agile delivery team as Scrum Master for a critical client project.
• Apply Agile, Scrum, and Kanban practices across software development efforts.
• Track project scope, schedule, risks, issues, and delivery progress.
• Prepare and share status updates and progress reports with stakeholders.
• Support planning and execution of timely value delivery.
• Help the team stay focused by removing blockers and limiting distractions.
• Coach team members on the agile mindset, delivery process, and client priorities.
• Facilitate meetings, workshops, and collaboration sessions that build shared understanding.
• Work with stakeholders to shape roadmaps, manage expectations, and coordinate communications.
• Support governance practices and ensure issues are escalated and resolved appropriately.
• Assist teams in writing user stories and epics, identifying dependencies, and developing practical solutions.
• Contribute to team development by encouraging accountability and strengthening capacity through organizational resources.
• Partner closely with product owners, technical architects, and developers to deliver Salesforce capabilities across the full lifecycle.
• Support planning, backlog and requirements management, release coordination, and delivery oversight for Salesforce implementations.

Experience and qualifications

• You should have at least 4 years of experience working with Scrum or Kanban methods.
• You should have at least 4 years of experience as either a Product Owner or Scrum Master.
• Hands-on experience managing Agile or IT-related projects is required.
• A strong understanding of the software development life cycle and project management methods is expected.
• You must hold both CSM and SAFe certifications.
• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS, or an equivalent mix of education and experience is required.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• You should be able to build trust quickly with clients, influence outcomes, and gain consensus.
• Experience working in a studio or human-centered design environment is preferred.
• Flexibility to work with teams, individual contributors, and executives on varied deliverables is important.

Compensation and additional information

The expected annual pay range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000. Compensation may vary based on location, contract requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
