This is an opening for an accomplished Senior Ecologist to join the expanding ecology function at Ryan Hanley, now part of Stantec, in Cork. The role suits someone who enjoys delivering strong environmental outcomes on complex infrastructure and development work, while building both technical depth and professional growth.
What you will do
- Plan, lead, and complete ecological surveys, assessments, and associated reporting, including EcIA, AA Screening, NIS, and EIAR-related inputs.
- Guide and support junior ecologists, helping strengthen the wider team.
- Advise project teams on ecological matters throughout design, construction, and operational stages.
- Work with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary delivery teams to progress projects effectively.
- Carry out site inspections, fieldwork, and subcontractor oversight where needed.
- Contribute to scoping, scheduling, tender preparation, and fee proposal development.
About you
The ideal candidate is a seasoned ecology specialist with solid experience in ecological appraisal and Irish environmental legislation, including the Habitats and Birds Directives. You should have a track record of delivering complex assignments, balancing multiple priorities, and communicating well with clients and other stakeholders. Strong writing, planning, and leadership abilities are important, along with the confidence to work independently and as part of a cross-disciplinary team. A genuine interest in biodiversity, sustainability, and high-quality environmental delivery is key.
