The role covers preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance, rapid breakdown resolution, and support for automation systems to reduce equipment downtime. It also includes vendor coordination, spare parts planning, and involvement in qualification and validation work for equipment and control systems.Key ResponsibilitiesThe engineer will oversee maintenance safety by identifying hazards during critical jobs and ensuring adherence to work permits, lockout-tagout practices, and job safety analysis requirements.The role includes scheduling and tracking predictive, preventive, and shutdown maintenance, maintaining housekeeping in utility areas, and ensuring the right critical spares are available with controlled consumption.The incumbent will troubleshoot and carry out breakdown maintenance for electrical and mechanical assets such as transformers, generators, sub-stations, and control systems, aiming for fast restoration and minimal disruption.They will support automation platforms such as HMI and PLC, keep regular backups, and identify opportunities to expand automation for better reliability.The position also requires execution of qualification and validation activities, preparation of documentation aligned with ISO, cGMP, and statutory requirements, and updates to master maintenance schedules in SAP.In addition, the engineer will lead corrective and preventive actions using root cause analysis, Why-Why analysis, and incident investigation methods, while tracking performance against MTTR and MTBF targets.They will train and evaluate team members on maintenance basics, safe tool usage, and installation methods to strengthen technical capability across the team.The role further involves supporting minor modification projects, coordinating with plant stakeholders, raising purchase requests, checking received spares, and helping with cost estimates and budget planning for the department.RequirementsA Diploma or Graduation in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required.Candidates should have 3+ years or 6+ years of relevant work experience.Hands-on exposure to equipment such as mixers, dryers, reactors, and HVAC systems is preferred, along with experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, life sciences, or FMCG environments.Background in equipment qualification, validation, and root cause analysis for system failures is desirable.Experience with HVAC, compressed air, water systems, and utility optimization in pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.Practical knowledge of preventive maintenance documentation and corrective action tracking is desired.Exposure to servicing mechanical systems, including alignment, lubrication, and calibration of pumps, motors, and valves, is an advantage.Required capabilities include calibration, design modifications, machinery repair and maintenance, preventive maintenance, PLC systems, spare parts management, technical documentation, compliance management, equipment operation, lean methods, root cause analysis, and workplace safety.Behaviourally, the role calls for a strong safety mindset, disciplined execution, and a continuous-improvement approach with participation in 5S and Kaizen initiatives.Additional InformationThe company offers personalized learning programs to support career growth and professional development.Benefits are aligned with strong industry standards and include joining and relocation support, family support such as maternity and paternity benefits, learning and development opportunities, medical coverage for the employee and family, and life coverage for the employee.The workplace culture is centered on empathy, energy, teamwork, and shared success, with a strong commitment to the principle that good health cannot wait.Critical ExposureExposure to maintenance and troubleshooting of utility and process equipment is preferred, especially in environments that include HVAC, compressors, water systems, and pharmaceutical manufacturing utilities.Experience in handling equipment failures, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and validation-related activities will be valuable in this role.The company values candidates who have worked on operational reliability, utility optimization, and mechanical system servicing in regulated manufacturing settings.
