Role Overview
This position is within Reliance Carbon Fiber Operations for a Shift Engineer focused on carbonisation activities at the Surat, Gujarat location.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
Experience
The role calls for 3 to 6 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the carbonisation plants running efficiently by making timely shift-level decisions and allocating manpower appropriately as the shift lead.
- Work closely with personnel from other departments during shifts to sort out operational and administrative issues as they arise.
- Coordinate safe and timely handover and takeover of equipment with the Maintenance team for preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensure the workforce follows SOP-based safety guidance during the shift.
- Compile the shift status report by gathering MIS inputs from the supporting team and share the update with the department manager.
- Study the root causes of issues or deviations encountered during shift operations and record the corrective actions taken or recommended.
- Present the department’s daily performance during the GAMBA walk.
- Share ongoing feedback on product quality and operational performance with shift team members.
Preferred Background
- Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably textile engineering, from a reputed university, with a strong record of performance in the relevant field.
- Experience of about 3 to 5 years on the shop floor in large spinning mill fiber/yarn processing, carbonisation, or similar manufacturing operations is preferred.
- Applicants should have exposure to or basic knowledge of complex unit operations, precursor processing, carbonisation, and other high-temperature manufacturing processes.
- Prior experience in continuous-process departments operating on a 24/7 shift rotation with cross-functional teams is preferred.
