Position Summary

The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for keeping inventory accurate at the assigned location and for managing the movement, packing, and loading of materials through the shipping and receiving docks in an efficient and organized way.

Key Duties

  • Load, unload, and transport products from trucks and around the department.
  • Pack and wrap items according to established procedures.
  • Construct crates or custom shipping containers using hand tools.
  • Check products against quality standards and report defects or issues.
  • Follow safety rules and keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Make sure pallets and shipping crates are loaded and secured correctly.
  • Work in line with all documented procedures and instructions.
  • Carry out inventory counts and control materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods in the shipping area.
  • Guide Material Handlers and Drivers on shipping and warehouse priorities.
  • Maintain assigned tools and equipment on a daily basis.
  • Escalate non-conformities to the shop supervisor or the appropriate team member and follow up until corrected.
  • Use the Manufacturing Information System to prepare shipping paperwork and bills.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with warehouse material-handling equipment and safe shipping, receiving, documentation, and warehouse system practices.
  • A valid forklift licence or certification is a strong advantage, along with the ability to operate a forklift safely in a warehouse, shipping, or receiving setting.
  • Must be able to meet the physical and PPE demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and wearing a respirator.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
