About the Role
Farrow & Ball is hiring a part-time, permanent Showroom Assistant for its St Albans showroom. The position is for 30 hours per week, and the schedule may occasionally include weekends and overtime.
The brand is known for premium British paint and wallpaper, created with carefully selected ingredients and traditional printing methods. Founded in Dorset in 1946, the company has expanded over eight decades and now operates 60 showrooms around the world, supported by an international stockist network.
The business places strong emphasis on the people who represent the brand, from production teams through to showroom colleagues, with a focus on delivering a positive and engaging customer experience at every stage.
Role Overview
In this position, you will help deliver excellent customer service, support sales performance, and contribute to the team’s ability to meet and exceed targets. It is also an opportunity to develop within a global luxury paint and wallpaper brand.
Responsibilities
- Keep the showroom, stockroom, and display areas presented to a very high standard and ensure they remain clean, organised, and well maintained.
- Create a welcoming customer experience by developing strong relationships and understanding each shopper’s needs.
- Deliver courteous, professional service at all times, respond to complaints effectively, and give accurate guidance on colour choices and product suitability.
- Support stock control by putting deliveries away promptly and keeping the shop floor replenished.
- Handle cash and card payments accurately, including refunds when needed.
- Step in to support other tasks during busy periods, absences, holidays, sickness, and emergencies.
- Carry out regular lifting and manual handling of products as part of the role.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills.
- A solid track record in sales and customer satisfaction.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Basic IT literacy.
- Knowledge of paint and wallpaper is an advantage, though not essential.
- Willingness to undertake manual handling and lifting duties.
