Position Overview
This role is part of the Food & Beverage and Culinary function and sits at the non-management level. The kitchen supervisor is responsible for leading daily back-of-house activity, maintaining food quality, and helping ensure a polished dining experience in a luxury hotel environment in Doha, Qatar.
Core Duties
- Oversee and coordinate the work of cooks and kitchen team members.
- Decide how dishes should be plated and arrange decorative food presentations.
- Check portion sizes, food arrangement, and garnish standards before service.
- Track how much food is being prepared and make sure production aligns with demand.
- Notify the Food & Beverage service team about daily specials and items that are unavailable.
- Prepare special dietary meals or suitable substitutes when needed.
- Support cooks and other kitchen staff with different preparation tasks.
- Supply cooks with the ingredients, tools, and items they need to work efficiently.
- Monitor kitchen inventory, including food stock and supplies.
- Keep kitchen records and logs required for the food safety program and food products.
- Inspect food quality and escalate any item that does not meet the required standards.
Leadership and Team Support
- Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, performance review, counseling, discipline, and motivation of employees.
- Coach team members and help build a positive, goal-oriented work environment.
Standards, Safety, and Workplace Conduct
- Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a neat, professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Protect confidential information and company assets.
- Respond to guest service needs and communicate clearly and professionally.
- Build constructive working relationships and support teamwork across the department.
- Maintain required quality and service standards at all times.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by supervisors.
Physical Requirements
- Be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Qualifications
A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred. Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role. No license or certification is required.
