About the Company
Aditya Birla Housing Finance Limited (ABHFL), part of Aditya Birla Capital Limited, is a housing finance company registered with the National Housing Bank under the National Housing Bank Act, 1987. Its product portfolio covers home loans, home improvement loans, home construction loans, balance transfer and top-up loans, loans against property, and construction finance. ABHFL received its licence on 9 July 2014 and is pursuing ambitious expansion plans.
The company has delivered steady growth and maintained healthy asset quality despite a challenging market environment. The housing finance sector is led by a few major groups, but there is increasing opportunity in segments such as affordable housing and self-employed borrowers. Even with stronger competition from banks, HFCs continue to hold their share in the mortgage market. ABHFL is targeting rapid growth and aims to expand 5X to INR 40,000 crore over the next 5 years, which would place it among the top 5 percentile of HFCs in the country.
Role Overview
The Risk & Compliance team monitors client-level and portfolio-level exposure to identify early signs of stress and reduce non-performing assets. Because this monitoring is currently carried out with support from business teams and the risk management group does not have a branch presence, the role also involves overdue loan recovery from defaulting customers in coordination with business teams.
Key Responsibilities

- Deliver the required collection efficiency across all handled products.
- Maintain a sufficiently high level of follow-up activity for every delinquent account.
- Regularly assess the local portfolio and escalate early stress accounts or likely delinquent customers to the RCM and Head of Collections & Risk.
- Ensure every collection action is properly recorded in collection trails.
- Follow all collection processes and risk governance requirements at each location without deviation.
- Handle difficult delinquent cases through negotiation and secure repayments to reduce losses.
- Coordinate with legal and law enforcement agencies to speed up recovery in delinquent and written-off cases.
- Share feedback on how effective the collection strategies are once implemented.
- Work closely with the legal team on all collection-related legal matters.
Experience and Skills Required
- A graduate or postgraduate qualification is required.
- Applicants should have 6 to 8 years of experience in a relevant collections role, such as Collections Manager or Location Head.
- Exposure to credit functions or other related business areas is preferred.
- Prior experience in managing agencies or vendors is needed.
- The role calls for a self-starter with strong drive and energy.
- Ability to plan carefully and execute collections strategies developed by central or regional teams.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Leadership, analytical thinking, negotiation, influencing, and communication skills are essential.
- Good understanding of the market along with knowledge of collections and fraud-related techniques.
