About the Company

Transcat is a growing, forward-looking organisation known for its calibration and compliance services across North America and other regions. The business has more than 1,000 employees working in technical, consulting, operations, sales, finance, and corporate functions. Its reputation is built on a commitment to trust, quality, and consistent service for customers in important sectors such as life sciences, aerospace, defence, energy, and utilities. The company values its people and offers work that is both meaningful and career-building.

Role Summary

The Calibration Operative supports day-to-day mass calibration work inside the calibration facility. The role centres on the safe handling, movement, loading, and unloading of calibrated weights used with weighing equipment and automated calibration systems. You will help keep calibration activities running smoothly by following set procedures, carrying out basic equipment checks, maintaining tidy workstations, and making sure records are completed correctly. This position suits someone dependable, detail-focused, and comfortable with practical, hands-on work in a controlled laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine mass calibration tasks in line with company procedures and quality expectations.
  • Move, load, and unload calibrated weights safely onto weighing instruments and automated systems.
  • Help prepare, operate, and carry out basic checks on weighing and calibration equipment.
  • Keep calibration logs and other documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safety-compliant work areas, equipment, and stations.
  • Work alongside calibration technicians and supervisors to support daily workflow.
  • Flag any equipment faults, damaged weights, or other operational problems to the relevant team members.
  • Follow all training, safety, and procedural requirements within a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Contribute to improvement efforts and assist with additional calibration or operational tasks when needed.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills

Experience in an operational, manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, or production environment is helpful. Any background involving the safe handling of equipment, materials, or repetitive tasks in a controlled setting will also be an advantage. Candidates should be accurate, organised, and able to follow standard operating procedures and work instructions closely. Practical confidence, teamwork, good communication, and a strong focus on quality, safety, and compliance are important. Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, would be useful. A willingness to learn and grow within the calibration and laboratory environment is expected.

Education

A Leaving Certificate or an equivalent qualification is preferred, although relevant hands-on experience and a strong work ethic may also be considered.

Equal Opportunity

Transcat is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes people from diverse backgrounds. Support is available during the recruitment process for candidates who need assistance.
