About Raising The Village
Raising The Village (RTV) works to end ultra-poverty across Sub-Saharan Africa through practical, scalable solutions. As a fast-expanding international development organization, the team includes more than 350 committed staff members across Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC, plus over 10 professionals in North America. The organization uses data and innovation to strengthen community outcomes and has reached more than 1,000,000 lives since 2012, with a goal of supporting 1 million people each year by 2027.
The VENN team serves as RTV’s data and technology hub, bringing together analytics and custom software to support informed decision-making throughout the organization.
Role Summary
The Data Analyst will help RTV gather, organize, analyze, and report reliable data that supports decision-making, program improvement, and impact measurement. This position works closely with program, Monitoring, Evaluation and Applied Learning, and Product Development teams to ensure data is accurate, relevant, and used effectively for learning, accountability, and performance tracking. The role also provides technical input into data collection planning, survey and questionnaire development, quality checks, monitoring and evaluation, research, and impact assessment. Strong quantitative ability, experience with M&E approaches, dashboarding, and the skill to turn complex information into practical recommendations are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine data and turn findings into practical insights that guide program performance and strategic choices.
- Spot trends, patterns, and major performance drivers using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Present analytical conclusions in a way that is useful for both technical teams and non-technical audiences.
- Support organizational learning by combining evidence and helping teams make data-informed decisions.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of evaluations, surveys, assessments, and research work.
- Help shape evaluation methods, sampling plans, and analytical approaches.
- Contribute to tracking outcomes and impact through rigorous analysis.
- Summarize research results and share them in formats that support program improvement and learning.
- Create and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and reporting outputs for internal and external users.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and concise data summaries.
- Convert complex datasets into clear, compelling, and useful insights.
- Encourage wider use of data for performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Support the design of data collection approaches aligned with program goals and M&E frameworks.
- Develop and refine data collection tools and performance measurement instruments.
- Help create data management guidelines, training content, and standard operating procedures.
- Continuously improve data collection processes to raise data quality and usefulness.
- Oversee the full data lifecycle, including cleaning, validation, storage, analysis, and reporting.
- Apply quality assurance practices to maintain accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Support data governance and adherence to internal data management standards.
- Identify and correct data quality problems so high-quality information is available for decision-making.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Data Science, or another closely related quantitative field.
- A postgraduate qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Project Planning and Management, or a related area is an advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in data management, analytics, monitoring and evaluation, research, or a similar discipline.
- Ability to work with R, Python, advanced STATA, and/or MS Excel.
- Hands-on experience with dashboard and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or Shiny.
- Strong knowledge of data management practices, quality assurance, and analytical workflows.
- Understanding of experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation methods.
- Ability to combine quantitative and qualitative evidence into useful recommendations.
