Role overview
The Design Engineer will be responsible for structural design work and analysis, helping ensure solutions are technically sound, compliant with safety expectations, and aligned with project requirements. The role also involves working closely with different disciplines, preparing technical outputs, and supporting delivery from office through to site.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and analytical checks so that engineering solutions satisfy technical, safety and project standards.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to keep project activities coordinated and delivery on track.
- Produce and update technical records such as reports, drawings and design calculations.
- Visit sites to monitor progress, confirm that design intent is being followed, and spot possible issues early.
- Liaise with clients and other stakeholders, share progress updates, respond to technical questions and support informed decisions.
- Support and guide junior colleagues, including helping them build skills and confidence.
Requirements
- A solid grounding in civil engineering concepts and day-to-day practice.
- Ability to coordinate projects effectively and keep multiple workstreams aligned.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills.
- Comfort working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Capacity to work independently and take initiative where needed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience or familiarity with wastewater treatment processes would be an advantage.
