About the role

Boots UK is looking for a Dispenser to join its in-store pharmacy team. In this position, you will work alongside the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

Your time will be spent in the store’s healthcare area, where you’ll build trusted relationships with patients by understanding their needs and supporting them with practical advice. The role includes greeting customers, preparing prescriptions, ensuring medicines are supplied safely, and using your healthcare knowledge to help people make informed choices about their wellbeing.

This is an in-store position in the UK only. Remote applications will not be considered. Applications from outside the UK will only move forward if relevant UK qualifications and proof of the right to work in the UK can be provided.

Pay

The pay for this role starts at £13.92 per hour and can rise to £16.64 per hour in selected London locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense prescriptions while making sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering stock, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  • Partner with other healthcare professionals in the store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
  • Offer patients guidance on medicines and pass more complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed legally and safely.
  • Keep up with new in-store processes and innovations, and work in line with operational requirements.
  • Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines in a way that supports adherence and reduces waste.

You will also work with changing in-store technology and new systems that modernise dispensing, improve patient safety, and free up more time for patient support. Regular training will be provided to strengthen your healthcare knowledge, and there are opportunities to grow into a Pharmacy Technician role or move into store leadership.

What you need

  • You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or be working toward it with the first year of an MPharm already completed.
  • You must have a current and valid right to work in the UK. Sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa is not available for this role.

Desirable experience

  • Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.

Benefits

  • Discretionary Christmas gift payment.
  • Staff discount at a generous level.
  • Enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, and adoption leave, plus a gift card for anyone expecting or adopting a child.
  • Flexible benefits package.
  • Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health as part of the employee assistance programme.

Additional information

Boots offers a wider benefits package with flexible options to suit different needs. Salary estimates shown on third-party websites are not provided or endorsed by Boots and may not be accurate.

What happens next

Your application will be reviewed by the team, and successful candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview with the hiring manager. If a role is listed as full-time, part-time and job-share options may still be discussed during the application process. Reasonable adjustments can be provided for applicants who need support during the application or interview stages.

A successful offer will be followed by a pre-employment check. Depending on your location, this may include a DBS, PVG, or Access NI check. Boots also applies a Ban the Box policy and reviews applicants with criminal convictions individually.
