About Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a mission-driven nonprofit that aims to make free, high-quality learning available to everyone, everywhere. Millions of learners use the platform each month, and the organization continues to expand its library of lessons and practice content so students can build confidence across subjects such as mathematics, biology, and advanced calculus.
About Khan Academy India
The India team focuses on creating a locally relevant learning experience for students in India, supported by a strong regional presence and ground operations. Its mastery-based model helps learners progress at their own pace before moving to harder topics. The platform has grown from serving under 500,000 learners in 2016 to nearly 10 million monthly learners across websites, apps, and YouTube. Learners include both self-directed users at home and students supported by teachers in schools. The organization is especially focused on underserved communities, expanding access through regional languages and partnerships with large public-school systems. Khan Academy is already available in English, Assamese, Hindi, Hinglish, Odia, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, and Punjabi.
About the India Schools Team
The Schools Team works to improve learning outcomes in government schools by helping teachers and students use the Khan Academy platform effectively. Through government partnerships, the team has reached 2 million learners in the past year and works with more than 65,000 schools across multiple states. The long-term goal is to scale this impact to over five million learners within five years. The team operates in a lean, collaborative way, building implementation plans, offering support throughout rollout, and enabling peer learning. It also uses feedback, data insights, and efficacy studies to keep improving its approach.
