About the role
This position focuses on leading internal audit efforts within the organization, with responsibility for strengthening compliance, safeguarding assets, and improving audit effectiveness.
Core purpose
The role contributes to defining the internal audit department’s main objectives, preparing audit plans that verify employee adherence to regulations, policies, instructions, and financial procedures, and assessing whether those controls are effective and appropriate. It also supports the development of procedures and operational manuals to help work run smoothly and produce strong results.
Key duties
- Design internal audit plans and, based on them, set performance objectives for direct reports in line with the organization’s strategic goals, then monitor their performance, evaluate results, and provide feedback that helps them meet defined targets.
- Advise the direct manager on findings from periodic audits, including the extent to which employees comply with work rules and regulations, while reviewing business activities to confirm correctness, identify weaknesses, and suggest corrective actions that protect the organization’s assets and property from theft, loss, or manipulation.
- Contribute to shaping the primary goals of internal audit and help build and implement plans and programs that support those goals, ensuring there are clear standards and measurement frameworks to track progress.
- Oversee the review of reports, documents, financial records, final accounts, contracts, and agreements to confirm accuracy and compliance, identify misuse or irregularities, and maintain effective documentation systems for internal audit work so records are easy to retrieve and use.
- Build productive working relationships with external auditors, provide the support they need to carry out external audits, share all requested reports and information, and review the external audit outcomes before presenting them to senior management.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in finance administration or a related field is required.
The role requires 10 years of experience in duties and activities similar to this position within the hospitality, Hajj, and Umrah sector.
Skills and competencies
The role calls for strong accounting knowledge, internal audit capability, applied financial accounting, financial audit processes, compliance auditing, review of financial statements, internal controls, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility.
