Role overview

Sobeys is hiring a full-time janitor for its Alberta Central Kitchen in Rocky View County, Alberta. The role focuses on keeping the site clean, sanitary, safe, and well organized, while supporting a productive work environment. Key duties

• Keep the central kitchen, warehouse, equipment, and nearby outdoor areas clean in line with HACCP standards.
• Sweep, scrub, and disinfect floors, and handle garbage and recycling duties.
• Help maintain an orderly, safe, and hygienic workplace.
• Follow company safety procedures and apply all required safety standards.
• Keep MSDS catalogues updated and available as needed.
• Carry out other assigned tasks when required.

Work conditions

• Regularly move around the site and perform bending, squatting, twisting, and similar physical tasks.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• For items heavier than 50 pounds, a two-person lift is required; some lifts may exceed 88 pounds.
• Work in a cool environment maintained at 1–4°C.
• Be available for night shifts and weekends when needed.

Experience and background

Candidates should already have sanitation experience. Experience operating a power jack or working in a warehouse is considered an advantage. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and materials is also important.

The ideal applicant can keep a steady pace in a busy setting, works well with others, stays motivated, and pays close attention to safety. Strong time management and the ability to juggle multiple tasks are also needed.
