Role overview
This opportunity is suited to a 2D animator or visual world designer who enjoys building immersive, story-rich settings. The project involves creating five original animated background scenes for Mono, a character with a CRT-style television head and cable-like hair, placed in a dark, emotional sci-fi city shaped by the feel of abandoned technology.
The emphasis is on producing atmospheric, distinctive visuals that belong to Mono’s universe rather than generic backdrops. The scenes should carry subtle motion and support the project’s mood and narrative. The overall look may draw some inspiration from works such as Lofi Girl and 1924us, but the final style must be tailored specifically to this brief.
Deliverables
- Create and animate five separate background scenes, with each one representing a different part of Mono’s sci-fi urban world.
- Add restrained motion elements such as light flickers, drifting dust, or soft camera movement to build atmosphere.
- Make sure every scene fits naturally with Mono’s character and story, and does not feel like a stock or generic environment.
- Provide the finished files in MP4, MOV, GIF, or Moho-compatible formats.
- Keep all artwork fully original; AI-generated visuals are not acceptable.
Requirements
- Demonstrated background in 2D animation and environmental or worldbuilding design.
- Comfortable using Moho or comparable animation tools.
- Strong ability to tell a story visually and create mood through subtle movement and detail.
- A portfolio that shows atmospheric environments with character-led creative direction.
- Capability to complete polished, original work within the agreed schedule.
