Role Overview
This position leads DevSecOps, release governance, and operational coordination for Global Business Platforms supporting the UK region. The role serves as a link between regional and global teams, with responsibility for platform reliability, compliance, process discipline, and continuous improvement.
Release and Deployment Management
- Own the regional execution of major, minor, and emergency releases through automated CI/CD workflows, making sure deployments are timely and of high quality.
- Work with global testers to manage post-release verification and ensure defects are captured, tracked, and closed efficiently.
- Back up the Operations and Technical Release Manager in running the CAB ticket process end to end, with strong deployment traceability and compliance.
- Partner with the Operations and Technical Release Manager to run Kanban planning, prioritisation, and continuous process improvement.
- Coordinate development and change activities across the UK region so business goals are met with minimal disruption.
- Improve release performance by reviewing outcomes, collecting feedback, and introducing process enhancements.
- Share release progress, risks, and issues with stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
Testing and Change Coordination
- Coordinate regression testing for changes affecting UK-hosted Global Business Platforms alongside global testers.
- Act as a central contact for coordinating upcoming development, maintenance, and change work between global and UK teams.
- Ensure testing results, risks, and dependencies are documented and communicated effectively.
- Continuously improve testing and coordination practices by removing bottlenecks and adopting better ways of working.
Platform Operations and Monitoring
- Provide technical leadership for day-to-day platform operations while meeting SLAs, SLOs, RTOs, and other service commitments.
- Oversee incident handling, monitoring, and escalation to protect platform stability and reduce service interruptions.
- Participate in a 24x7 out-of-hours support rota.
- Work with the Operations and Technical Release Manager to prepare and analyse availability, performance, and capacity reports.
- Strengthen operational resilience by identifying risks and improving reliability practices.
Incident and Problem Management
- Lead technical troubleshooting for regional issues and restore service quickly with minimal business impact.
- Act as the main technical contact during critical and high-severity incidents.
- Join and coordinate post-incident reviews with global and regional stakeholders, ensuring corrective actions are defined and tracked.
- Review incident trends to identify root causes, reduce future risk, and add preventative controls.
- Document incident learnings and share them to improve team capability and prevent repeat issues.
Risk, Compliance, and Governance
- Identify, evaluate, document, and manage risks and issues affecting UK-region platform operations.
- Support compliance and audit activities and help ensure readiness for regulatory review.
- Work with risk, compliance, and audit teams to close findings and strengthen controls.
- Track regulatory changes and adapt processes to maintain compliance and operational resilience.
Experience and Technical Background
The role calls for around 10 years of overall experience, including more than 5 years in technical leadership roles within cloud-native, container-based environments. Strong hands-on expertise is expected across Kubernetes and GKE, Helm, Wiz, GCP networking, Cloudflare, GCP compute, GCS, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Dataproc, Ping and/or Keycloak IAM, Kong APIM, GCP-native observability tools, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Harness CI/CD, Terraform, HashiCorp Vault, Redis, and application security tooling such as CheckMarxOne.
Leadership and Collaboration
The position also requires the ability to convert high-level architecture into detailed low-level designs, alongside strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills. Success in the role depends on working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions aligned to business needs.
