Role Overview
A security professional is needed to help protect private premises in Gatineau, Quebec. The position focuses on maintaining a safe, orderly environment through active monitoring, regular patrols, and quick response to incidents.
Key Duties
- Control entry and exit points to manage who comes onto the site.
- Carry out thorough walking patrols both inside and outside the property.
- Help prevent theft, damage, and vandalism.
- Stop unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas.
- Apply and uphold client site rules and procedures.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and calls for assistance.
- Work flexibly according to operational needs, including day and night schedules.
- Use strong communication, professionalism, and a calm approach while working with others and the public.
Mandatory Clearance Requirement
To be considered, applicants must qualify for an Enhanced Top-Secret Security Clearance. This involves providing extensive documentation covering at least the last 10 years of residency, work history, travel, education, and related background details.
The clearance process is detailed and handled by government security officials. It includes full disclosure of personal information, a security interview, discussions with neighbors, colleagues, and/or friends, and multiple checks and assessments. These may include a criminal background check with fingerprints, polygraph testing, psychological testing, and a complete credit review with disclosure of assets and debts.
Qualifications
- No security guard license is required to apply.
- Applicants should be dependable, mature, and available for day or night work as needed.
- All selected candidates must begin with 12-hour night shifts, scheduled from 0600-1800 or 1800-0600.
- Interior and exterior patrols must be possible during both daytime and nighttime hours.
- Strong customer service ability is important.
- You should be comfortable taking direction and working as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills are needed, including Excel, Word, email, and access control systems.
- Training or education in Police Foundations, Community and Justice Services, Customs & Border Services, Correctional Services, Security Management, or another related university-level program is considered an advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in a related role is preferred.
