Role overview

The Security Manager will be accountable for safeguarding guests, employees, visitors, contractors, hotel property and assets at The Dubai EDITION in Dubai, UAE. This position focuses on building and enforcing strong security controls, emergency preparedness, risk reduction and compliance with applicable local regulations and hotel standards. The role also involves leading the security function and partnering with hotel departments to prevent incidents while supporting a high-quality guest experience.

Core duties

You will oversee day-to-day hotel security activities around the clock and ensure the property remains protected at all times. The position requires creating, updating and applying security procedures, standard operating practices and coverage plans for every area of the hotel, including guest rooms, public spaces, dining venues, bars, parking areas, back-of-house zones and event spaces. Regular patrols, inspections and system monitoring are central to the role.

The manager is also expected to carry out risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities and design practical loss-prevention measures to reduce theft, fraud and property damage. When incidents occur, you will lead or support investigations, document findings in detail and recommend corrective actions. Records for investigations and all security-related matters must be kept accurately.

A major part of the job involves emergency planning and crisis response. You will ensure readiness for fire, medical, natural disaster and security-related situations, organize drills and training, and act as Incident Commander during emergencies until handed over to senior management or external responders. Coordination with Civil Defence, Police, Ambulance Services and other authorities will be required when needed.

In addition, the role includes building and managing the security team through hiring, training, supervision and performance review. You will coach staff, uphold professional appearance and discipline, and create training programs that strengthen security awareness, guest interaction and emergency response capabilities.

The Security Manager will also support health, safety and compliance efforts, including participation in safety meetings and risk reviews, oversight of contractor and vendor compliance, and protection of confidential guest and company information. The role further covers guest and employee safety, discreet handling of security concerns, and collaboration with other departments to solve security-related issues. Administrative duties include preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports, tracking trends, managing budgets, scheduling staff, controlling inventory and maintaining licenses, permits and compliance documents.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related subject is required. A valid SIRA Manager/Supervisor certification is mandatory, while additional professional security certifications are considered an advantage. A UAE driving licence will be beneficial.

The ideal candidate should bring 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in hotel security, including 3 to 5 years in a Security Manager role within a luxury hotel. Experience with Marriott International properties is mandatory, preferably in brands such as The Dubai EDITION, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, W Hotels or JW Marriott. Strong working knowledge of SIRA requirements, Dubai security compliance, UAE hospitality security standards, Marriott security standards, emergency procedures, loss prevention, and security operations in multi-outlet luxury hotels is essential. Prior coordination with UAE authorities and hands-on experience with CCTV, access control, investigations, risk assessment and crisis management are also required.

Skills and competencies

This position calls for strong leadership, sound judgment and the ability to stay composed under pressure. Excellent communication, interpersonal ability, report writing, crisis management and decision-making skills are important, along with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and security management systems is also expected.

Success in this role will be measured through lower security incidents and losses, compliance with hotel and legal requirements, effective emergency response, completion of audits and risk reviews, strong safety outcomes for guests and employees, productive team performance and successful incident resolution.
