Software Engineer, Engineering Excellence

About the role

In this role, you will join the Engineering Excellence team to help raise developer productivity, improve platform dependability, and strengthen security practices across the engineering organization. You will work on internal platforms, AI-enabled tools, and technical standards that support teams across Transaction Experience, Payment Rails, Trading Desk, Treasury, Account & Identity, Blockchain, and Card Issuance.

The position focuses on reducing friction in day-to-day engineering work, improving visibility and reliability of systems, and encouraging secure and scalable development patterns across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and support internal tools, platforms, and AI-based solutions that increase engineering efficiency and streamline operations.
• Maintain tooling used by Engineering, Product, and Operations teams and improve it based on business needs.
• Spot system slowdowns, technical bottlenecks, and operational gaps, then work on practical fixes.
• Investigate issues, resolve defects, and implement improvements that raise reliability, scalability, and throughput.
• Take part in observability, monitoring, and operational excellence efforts.
• Create and uphold AI security controls and governance measures to support safe and compliant AI usage.
• Assess risks tied to AI-driven systems and workflows and help reduce them.
• Contribute to engineering standards, guidelines, and best practices, and help teams adopt them.
• Encourage secure, maintainable, and dependable software development across product teams.
• Work closely with teams in Trading Desk, Blockchain, Payment Rails, Treasury, and other areas to understand pain points and deliver useful solutions.
• Collect input from internal stakeholders and keep improving the developer experience across the organization.

What we are looking for

• Minimum 2 years of professional software engineering experience in building and running production systems.
• Proven ability to create software that is reliable, maintainable, and able to scale.
• Hands-on proficiency in at least one of these languages: Ruby, Golang, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with modern backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Good working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Ability to profile, troubleshoot, and optimize database queries and application performance.
• Exposure to developer tooling, internal platforms, or AI-powered applications.
• Understanding of AI security practices, guardrails, or governance frameworks is an advantage.
• Preferred familiarity with payment systems, fintech infrastructure, or blockchain technologies.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, system architecture, testing approaches, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving ability and a strong interest in improving developer productivity and engineering excellence.
