This position is responsible for accurate material handling, prompt dispatches and effective use of resources so that store activities run smoothly. The role also requires strong attention to safety, statutory compliance and controlled operating practices.

Key responsibilities
- Follow daily operating instructions, internal policies, SOPs and process guidelines to ensure work is executed in a consistent and controlled way.
- Carry out inventory and warehouse activities in line with defined SOPs and comply with the required review and reporting cycles.
- Stay updated on better practices and emerging trends, and support ongoing improvements in systems, workflows and procedures.
- Manage the receiving process by carefully accepting materials and checking incoming deliveries against the relevant consignments.
- Oversee unloading activities while maintaining safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Inspect received materials physically, match them with delivery documents, and coordinate joint inspection with the requesting users when materials arrive.
- Move materials to their designated storage locations in a safe, orderly and secure manner.
- Handle issue and receipt transactions so the right materials are available on time for plant needs across the relevant categories.
- Maintain secure, organized storage of materials within assigned areas.
- Ensure products are labelled correctly and all delivery records are maintained accurately and in line with required procedures.
- Support the Stores Manager in preparing MIS reports and dashboards for inventory analysis, modelling and classification of materials such as insurance items, stock-controlled items, procure-to-consume items, and slow- and fast-moving items.
- Assist the Stores Manager in the disposal or liquidation of surplus and obsolete materials.
- Support scrap-handling activities according to SOP requirements.
- Perform physical verification and preservation activities for materials as per SOPs.
- Build and maintain effective coordination with other departments while keeping a strong customer-oriented approach.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to material management.
- Follow Health, Safety, Environment and Fire guidelines strictly, including FIFO and FEFO methods for material handling.
- Take part in management audits related to materials stored on site and implement corrective actions for any issues identified.
- Give clear direction and supervision to contract workers so store operations continue without disruption.
- Support workforce and manpower planning at the operational level to improve execution efficiency.
- Guide contract labour and other personnel involved in key store activities.
- Ensure all workers in the section receive proper training in store processes and safety compliance.
- Perform any other related task assigned by senior authority from time to time.
Requirements
- A Diploma in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical discipline is required.
- Experience of 2 to 9 years in supply chain operations within a similar plant environment.
- Hands-on exposure to engineering and maintenance functions, preferably in rotary equipment in petrochemical or refinery settings.
- Working knowledge of functions such as engineering, maintenance, planning, materials, automation, material handling, systems, procurement and contracts.
- Familiarity with petrochemical or refinery equipment.
- Understanding of standard engineering and maintenance practices, along with reliability concepts.
- Exposure to equipment spares, bulk materials and related store items.
- Ability to operate store equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements and safety hazards.
- Strong planning and decision-making skills.
- Experience in managing contract workers.
Success measures
The role is assessed through daily demand fulfilment, quantity of material handled, on-time delivery performance, compliance with safety requirements and maintaining zero safety incidents.
Working relationships
Internal stakeholders: Production, Engineering & Maintenance, Material, Warehouse, Quality, P&C, Purchase, Finance and IDT.
External stakeholders: Vendors, customers and transporters.
