About the role
RND Fortis GmbH is looking for a creative Designer to join its Product Team. The position is centered on improving journalistic content and regional brands through digital design that feels intuitive, engaging, and user-focused. You will work closely with Product Owners, Frontend Developers, and the Editorial Development team to build prototypes, visual concepts, visualizations, and UX approaches that strengthen the company’s digital products. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution and offers the chance to contribute to impactful projects in a modern media environment.
What you will do
- Create and evaluate prototypes, visualizations, and UX concepts that improve usability and help digital products stay competitive.
- Partner with Frontend Developers to design, refine, and expand Design System components so products remain consistent and scalable.
- Carry out independent user research, usability testing, and desk research, then turn findings into data-backed design decisions.
- Share design ideas and proposals with stakeholders and external partners, while coordinating feedback and approvals.
- Take part in planning meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and refinement sessions to keep design work aligned with project objectives.
- Support visual design tasks when needed, including the creation of graphics and other visual assets for digital content.
Requirements
- Professional or academic training in Design, Media Design, Software Development, or a similar field with a digital design focus.
- Several years of experience creating digital products, ideally in journalism or media environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Figma, Jira, Slack, Adobe Creative Suite, and Asana.
- Demonstrated ability to independently run research activities such as interviews, surveys, and user testing, including direct contact with target audiences.
- Interest in and experience with AI-based tools such as Claude, Figma AI, large language models, and agentic systems is an advantage.
- Very good German communication skills at C1 level or above are required for effective collaboration.
