Assistant Buyer

The Assistant Buyer is an important part of the Merchandising organization, helping keep operations running smoothly and supporting the category team so it can deliver for fans. Working alongside a Buyer or Associate Buyer, this role handles daily merchandising coordination, vendor communication, and cross-team support while developing the foundation needed to move into an Associate Buyer role.

Key Responsibilities

This role focuses on merchandising execution, vendor coordination, and business support. The Assistant Buyer helps maintain accuracy in product setup, keeps information moving between teams, and supports the broader category strategy through reporting and analysis.

• Create and maintain new items, SKUs, and product attributes accurately in merchandising systems.
• Monitor product samples, keep product details organized, and assist with photo shoots and marketing requirements.
• Support purchase orders, delivery schedules, and the movement of product through the supply chain.
• Stay in regular contact with vendors to confirm product data, samples, and order details are correct and on time.
• Prepare supporting materials for vendor meetings and line reviews.
• Partner with Planning, Product Development, Marketing, and Site Experience teams as needed.
• Review weekly sales, inventory, and margin reports to spot potential risks and opportunities.
• Track how promotions and markdowns are executed.
• Share competitive insights and fan behavior observations to help strengthen category decisions.
• Provide day-to-day operational support to Buyers and Associate Buyers.
• Contribute to a team culture built on accountability, teamwork, and curiosity.
• Model Fanatics’ BOLD leadership principles in daily work.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate brings early merchandising or retail experience, strong organizational habits, and a willingness to learn. Attention to detail and comfort working with data and systems are key for success in this role.

• 0 to 2 years of experience in merchandising, retail, eCommerce, or a related area.
• Strong organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Comfort using Excel and merchandising systems, with interest in learning financial metrics.
• Curiosity about products, fans, and sports culture.
• A team-oriented mindset and ambition to grow into a merchandising leadership role.

Work Location and Travel

This position is based in New York City or Jacksonville, Florida. Travel may be required for vendor meetings, market appointments, and industry events.

Compensation

The expected pay for this role is $65,000 to $75,000 per year, in line with New York salary transparency requirements. Final compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and location.
