Description de l'emploi
Job purpose
The Contracts Manager is the senior lead accountable for the full end-to-end delivery of assigned construction projects. The role is focused on turning each project into a model delivery: strong profit outcomes, zero safety incidents, high-quality work, and execution strictly in line with the programme.
Working mainly from a regional office while still holding overall authority over teams on site, this person connects executive-level direction with day-to-day field execution. The position calls for advanced knowledge of construction economics and project management, along with the judgment to read between the lines of site reporting, identify the real status of a project, and act early before risks turn into losses.
Key job outputs and elements
- Protect project profitability and strengthen financial performance.
- Maintain programme integrity and keep delivery aligned to the planned timetable.
- Oversee HSEQ governance, including safety and quality standards.
- Manage contractual matters and serve as the main interface with clients.
Minimum requirements
Education
- A B.Sc. or B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required.
- Professional registration as Pr.CPM (SACPCMP) or Pr.Eng (ECSA) is strongly preferred.
- A certificate or diploma in Construction Law, particularly FIDIC or NEC, will be an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 15 years of overall experience in the civil engineering sector.
- Between 5 and 7 years of experience in a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager role managing several sites.
- Strong background in DFI-funded infrastructure works such as roads, bridges, water projects, or mining-related civil works.
- Demonstrated experience using RIB CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart for project management.
Technical skills
- Ability to conduct deep-dive financial reviews of project budgets and cost reports.
- Strong capability to forecast cost-to-complete and final margin with accuracy.
- Expert understanding of FIDIC and the ability to prepare high-level contractual correspondence.
- Broad technical knowledge across earthworks, concrete, and specialist infrastructure.
